Woke up more refreshed than the previous days but with my sinus’ driving me crazy. Can’t blame it on the pollution, though there is no shortage of that. My sinus’ were bad before we left for China.
Today was leisure day. No where to go, no paperwork to do. Lovely!
We went to the park and strolled around. Penelope discovered the sunglasses yesterday and had to give them a try while we were at the park. The iPhone was ready to capture it.
Afterwards we spent an hour talking to Joy, a travel companion of one of the adoptive parents. She brought one of her older children to assist Stephanie, who is adopting two children on this trip. We discovered Penelope hates to share her food, hardly a revelation considering the circumstances.
We then went to the hotel next to ours, Holiday Inn Express, and had some of the best noodles I’ve ever tasted. I had the pleasure of feeding Penelope noodles and eggs with a chopstick, getting a smile in return for every bite.
Back at the hotel bath time came and went. Bed time continues to be a struggle. It took 30 minutes of humming and rocking Penelope to go to sleep this afternoon and another 45 minutes at night. I felt horrible for Jenn. She was locked in the bathroom, unable to come out for fear of disturbing the sleep ritual.
Immediately after I got her down the phone range. Our guide thought we asked for a visit to the doctor. Wrong Jeremy (there’s another one in the group, as well as two Stephanies).
Hopefully we’ll have some time with the group, taking in a tour or something tomorrow.
