May, Friday the 13th. Orientation was what I imagine finding out your spouse is pregnant must be like. Somehow it all became “real”.
Why the delay from the application to the Orientation? Septic problems.
A letter stating the septic system was in good working order is required at the orientation. We had a small problem. Our system was leaking at some unknown point into the yard. Turns out it was from the tank, on the septic side. $5000 later I know a lot more about septic systems and we have new field lines which, according to the county and the company that installed them, should last the remainder of our time at the house.
Now that septic issues are behind us we have a barren back yard, a bathroom to finish up, and another to start. I have the ambitious goal of finishing the next one in 6 months or less. It’s taken me almost 2 years to complete the half bath renovation but I’m almost there. Almost there. Just like we’re almost parents.
